A GREAT PERGOLA
ELOGIO DE LA SOMBRA begins with a simple white volume on which a large metal pergola is superimposed along the entire first floor of the house –in this way, its energy efficiency is considerably improved–. Its sides open to amplify the views of the Mediterranean Sea, while its upper beam is raised to allow more light to enter in the winter season.
AN INDUCED JOURNEY
The folded form of the pergola directs its intersection towards the main entrance door of the house (left). This way, what is being suggested is an induction of movement that proposes our displacement towards it. Furthermore, the ascending route, through concatenated platforms and stairs, establishes a route that starts from the exterior access and continues, brushing the water of the infinity pool on the intermediate platform with your hand, up to the upper platform.
CONTINUITY BETWEEN INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR
Both the ground floor and the first floor have large continuous windows that allow a wide view of the surrounding environment, amplifying the continuity between the interior and exterior space. At the same time, the succession of platforms on the ground floor –at different levels– promotes the connection of the architecture with the landscape. The exterior access to the semi-basement floor parking is carried out on a surface of prefabricated pieces that incorporate vegetation inside.
